Scoring
Information on scoring is not consistently reported across subscales:
For the Exploratory Subscale:
“high scores in this section indicate a strong sexual impulse, which is more frequent in men than in women.” (Sierra, Ortega, & Zubeidat, 2006)
Relating to the full scale:
“On the other hand, the poor fit to the data obtained for the model hypothesizing a second-order factor suggested that using a total SFQ score is not appropriate because it tends to reduce perceptible differences between individuals, decreasing the diagnostic utility
of the test.” (Sierra, Ortega, & Zubeidat, 2006)
“To obtain scores for these factors only the first column in the SFQ (Daytime fantasies) is considered. (This is because the four fantasy columns are highly correlated, with Column 1 being central.) The item scores of between 0 and 5 are summed over the 10 items in each factor to produce scores on four scales, each ranging from 0 to 50.
In addition to these four ‘primaries’, a total fantasy score may be obtained simply by summing the scores on the four primaries (equivalent to the sum of scores on all items). This is of interest because it turns out to be a fairly good measure of overall sex drive or ‘libido’.” (Wilson, 1988)

Definitions
Face validity: How well a measure appears to represent the construct it is supposed to be measuring.
Convergent validity: How well a measure correlates with other hypothetically-related measures.
Construct validity: The extent to which a measure reflects the construct it was designed to evaluate.
Internal consistency: The extent to which items in a scale capture aspects of the same construct.
Test-retest: The degree to which measurement scores are consistent over a short period of time (usually 2 weeks).
